He is at the door.

The verse of the day today is from Revelation 3:20 (ESV)
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

I used to love this verse a lot. The image of Jesus standing outside knocks at the door and waits. Such a thing brings peace because that gives a feeling of someone waiting. However, I don’t love this verse as much anymore. I’m not exactly sure whether society has changed me or I’ve grown. I am at a point where I want to knock rather than expect someone to wait from the outside.

This verse shows a perspective that Jesus is actively seeking us out instead of us seeking Him. That reminds me of a saying from a pastor that Jesus is intentionally pursuing you. That is also the meaning of faith.

Sometimes I wonder whether I want to be dependent or independent of God’s grace. I am no longer in a vulnerable state to ask for help financially, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I am grateful for all that and in acknowledgment of His providence. I am now in control of my life’s situation. But how long can that last? I am not even sure about my future and what tomorrow will bring. Therefore, I don’t want to take things for granted and appreciate Jesus, who has been waiting faithfully at the door.

Today, I challenge you to look at life from a different perspective. May the peace of God be with you, and His goodness and mercy shall follow you for the rest of your life.
